Q: LPG gas smell: what do I do?

If you notice an LP G gas smell, you need to take immediate action. Our 24-hour emergency team are available on 03457 200 100. Follow these steps, as long as it’s safe to do. Bulk LPG Tanks First, isolate the supply of gas at the tank Open the hood/inspection hatch on the tank Identify the isolation valve (shown below) Close the wheel valve by turning clockwise Gas Bottles Turn off gas bottle, move to a safe place if you can. Then call our 24-hour Emergency Team who can talk you through these next steps Extinguish all possible sources of ignition within 7.5m of the leak. If the leak is indoors, extinguish any sources of ignition and gas appliances, where safe to do so Don’t operate any electrical equipment – including switches. Don’t smoke or vape. If the suspected leak is indoors, increase ventilation by opening windows and doors.

How long do heating oil tanks last?

Accepted Answer

The average lifespan of a fuel oil tank is around 10 to 15 years, depending on how well the tank is maintained. Security is also important as heating oil can be vulnerable to theft as a precious fuel source. A bulk LPG tank has a service life of 30 years before it needs to be replaced. From a safety point of view, LPG is almost impossible to steal from a bulk tank and can be stored in an above ground or underground tank. If you use Flogas to heat your off-grid home, one of our engineers will perform a statutory inspection of your bulk LPG tank every 10 years. How many litres does my gas bottle hold?

Accepted Answer

This varies depending on size of gas bottle. If you have a propane cylinder (47kg / 19kg / 18kg / 11kg / 6kg) multiply the size of the cylinder by 1.96

e.g. 47kg cylinder = 47 x 1.96 = 92.12 litres

If you are using a butane cylinder (13kg / 7kg / 4.5kg) multiply the cylinder size by 1.724

e.g. 13kg cylinder = 13 x 1.724 = 22.412 litres

How much will it cost to replace my oil boiler?

The cost for a new boiler will vary, but if your existing oil boiler is over 10 years old, it could be approaching its ‘end of life’. As a result, repairs could be more severe and breakdowns more frequent. With us, you could choose to spread your payments over 12 months, interest free, or you may even qualify for a government grant towards the full or partial cost of replacing your oil boiler, through the ECO Scheme. I have a gas regulator I want to use on my barbecue (or other appliance). Can I do this?

I have two cylinders and want to upgrade to four, what do I need?

An upgrade kit is required which consists of 2 tee pieces, 2x35 inch hoses and 2x20mm nuts which connect on to the thread on the addition 2 cylinders. This can be purchased from our online shop.

Question 12

I no longer need my gas bottles, how do I dispose of it/them?

Accepted Answer

We recommend logging into your account to book a collection of empty or unused bottles. Alternatively, you can use our cylinder return form to request a collection and we will arrange for our local depot to collect your cylinder(s) for you. Cylinders can last up to 30 years with regular inspection, re-testing and refurbishment so it's really important to return any unused cylinders.
